Say Hello To Your New Best Friend!
5 Reasons To Try: Webjets.IO
@LisaBerghoff/@MrKimDHS
I am so excited to share this tool with you that I don't even know where to begin! For those of you who love Padlet, Webjets.io is going to blow your mind!
With all of our digital content, one of the biggest struggles we have is how to organize, share, and use it in a way that is efficient and useful. I happened to open my younger son's chromebook the other day only to find that he had over 100 bookmarks. At some point, it just makes no sense to keep bookmarking because you'd might as well Google it for how long it will take you to find what you need. Another issue that many teachers face is the diversity when it comes to the types of digital content we are using. We need something that can enable us to organize and access videos, websites, docs, images, podcasts, downloadable files, etc. Oh, and we want to be able to share and collaborate easily so everyone can participate.
Webjets.io modestly describes itself as a "versatile desktop for your life and work", but head over to their education site and you can see that this tool is a simple to use Swiss Army Knife of the digital world. You can use it as a library, for content curation, collaborate visually, present interactively, manage tasks with lists, organize information in mind maps, and more.
This 47 second video does a great job of explaining...
Here are the particulars...
There is a short tutorial video that can help get you up and running in addition to your first board.
Your library is along the left side. You can click and open your boards here.
The toolbar is along the bottom. Just click and drag to add cards and content. You have several options when adding content. You can add lists, folders, boards, mindmaps, and you can customize the titles and colors and change the location on your desktop.
Sharing your boards is super easy. You can add email addresses to give editing rights, or click on publish and you will have a unique link that will take you directly to your board.
Here is a link to my first board. I tried to put an example of each type of card while still keeping it simple.
Here's what it looks like:

3. Have students make connections, share their research, and manage their tasks in one place.
4. Students will be more engaged when they can interact with new content.
